Lichen in humans belongs to a group of skin diseases with fungal and, less often, viral etiology. There are cases of non-infectious origin. It is accompanied by tissue necrosis and the appearance of focal spots, nodules and inflammation. According to medical statistics, for every 100,000 of the population, about 10-15 people are diagnosed with lichen. The disease causes significant psychological and physical discomfort. Depending on the type of pathogen, there are seven types of lichen on the human body. Each of them has its own characteristics of manifestation, severity of the course and localization. Lichen disease can occur repeatedly in adults and children. In most cases, it is contagious. People with reduced immunity are at risk. A person's lichen manifests itself in the form of single or multiple focal lesions with fairly clear boundaries. The plaques are predominantly round in shape with a scaly surface that can occur on different parts of the body.

All varieties of lichen require treatment. Initially, a competent diagnosis is required to select an adequate therapy. Herpes zoster on the body is of viral-herpetic origin. Localization - the intercostal region, along the nerves. Possible manifestation in other places with major nerve trunks. Most often it occurs on one side of the body in the form of a blistering rash with the formation of a crust later. The incubation period for lichen is 14 days on average, but the range can be from 11 to 21 days. If the form of the disease is ocular, without timely treatment, you can lose your vision.

Outwardly, many types of rashes are similar, especially if they are itchy and injured, crusty. Therefore, it is important to visit a dermatologist or therapist to assess the appearance of the elements, associated symptoms and existing diseases.

In general, the treatment of patients with different types of lichen will be given in four main directions.
The first is etiotropic therapy (that is, drugs aimed at the cause of the disease): for ringworm and pityriasis, these are antifungal drugs (fungicides), for shingles, antiviral (Acyclovir drugs).
The second is the elimination of the symptoms of the disease through various medications: they are taken orally or applied topically.
The third is various non-drug measures (UV therapy, skin care, physiotherapy, strengthening of the immune defense).
And fourth (this item is not always needed) - disinfection in the hearths (for clothes, linen and at home).
