Panic attacks are neurotic disorders that manifest themselves as bouts of anxiety and unexplained fear, combined with somatic symptoms.
The causes of this disorder are not fully understood, but doctors have found that often the development of the disease is preceded by a serious shock or load (stress, illness, excessive sports loads, in women, panic attacks are possible during pregnancy). Panic attacks mainly affect young people 20-30 years old, more often women. Often, people who experience significant difficulties in connection with such conditions do not even try to see a doctor. There are many reasons, and one of them is the lack of sufficient information about this disease. Some people mistakenly consider panic attacks an incurable mental disorder and fear that treatment by a psychiatrist may negatively affect social status, others underestimate the severity of this disease, trying to come to terms with it, or are treated with folk remedies. However, very few people understand the true nature of panic attacks.

The diagnosis in the medical center "CM-Clinic" is made on the basis of collecting anamnesis and questioning the patient for complaints. To exclude the organic causes of the disorder, the patient needs consultations of a cardiologist, endocrinologist, and neurologist. Based on the indications, additional tests may be prescribed. As a prophylaxis, sedative medicinal herbs can be used. The patient needs to give up all stimulants: alcohol, caffeine, drugs, as they can provoke a panic attack. You need to avoid stress, create the most relaxed atmosphere at home.

TREATMENT

A psychotherapist treats panic attacks. During the consultation, the specialist teaches the patient to overcome the causeless fear. The selection of drug treatment depends on the severity of the disease. The patient may be shown validol, corvalol, phenazepam. In serious cases, when panic attacks are associated with depression, the patient will be given antidepressants. The duration of treatment depends on the development of the disease. In general, it takes from 1-2 months to a year.

However, the success of therapy depends entirely on the correct diagnosis, and this is not always easy, because vegetative-vascular dystonia in general and panic attacks in particular are successfully "disguised" as other diseases. Unfortunately, in free state polyclinics, physicians do not have the opportunity to thoroughly examine each patient, and often a person suffering from panic attacks is sent to a variety of specialists who do not find pathology.
