Ozone therapy in gastroenterology

Ozone is widely used in the treatment of acute and chronic viral hepatitis. Ozone therapy is included in the treatment complex in combination with interferon preparations. The course of treatment is from 6 to 12 procedures of general ozone therapy, with the possibility of repetition in the future. The use of ozone has also been shown for hepatitis of non-viral etiology (toxic, alcoholic), as well as cirrhosis of the liver. Here, it is possible to prescribe intravenous OFR, large autohemotherapy procedures, or as an alternative option for rectal insufflation of an ozone-oxygen mixture.

Ozone therapy has a multifaceted positive effect on the functional state of the liver, intrahepatic hemodynamics, microhemocirculation, platelet aggregation activity, lipid peroxidation processes, and has a membrane stabilizing effect.
