Comprehensive Treatment of trigeminal neuralgia in Tashkent in the Gatling Med multidisciplinary clinic at affordable prices and in the shortest possible time.

Trigeminal neuralgia or trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic disease characterized by compression, irritation or inflammation of the trigeminal nerve. The International Association for the Study of Pain defines trigeminal neuralgia as a syndrome characterized by sudden, brief, intense, recurring pain in the area of innervation of one or more branches of the trigeminal nerve, usually on one side of the face.

Causes of the disease

  • diseases of the paranasal sinuses;
  • malocclusion;
  • vascular aneurysms;
  • herpes, which affects the ganglia of the trigeminal nerve;
  • hypothermia, trauma, shock, concussion effects;
  • compression of the trigeminal nerve by tortuous vessels or a tumor;
  • multiple sclerosis; (especially in teenagers)
  • meningitis;
  • viral infection, cold, bacterial infection of the throat and upper respiratory tract.

Symptoms of trigeminal neuralgia

This disease is typical for older people and occurs more often in women than in men after 40 years. In this case, there is a strong, shooting pain, which is one-sided, very rarely on both sides of the face. The attack lasts from 3-4 to 15-20 seconds, in severe cases up to 2 minutes. Up to 30-40 painful paroxysms are possible during the day. Over time, the localization of pain sensations is unchanged, if it is characteristic of one side, then it is present there.

The pains are usually "triggered", that is, when the zones are irritated (touch, cough, talk, chew).

In addition, pain in neuralgia is divided into typical and atypical. Typical pain is characterized by periods of subsidence, the pain may be shooting. Atypical pain is constant, can capture a large area of the face, and it does not stop.

Treatment

The basis of treatment is several groups of antiepileptic drugs, the use of which depends on the type of neuralgia and the duration of the disease. If drug therapy is ineffective, surgical methods are used, as well as intraosseous blockades or stereotactic radiosurgery.
