Vegetovascular dystonia

Vegetovascular dystonia (VVD) is not a disease, but a combination of various symptoms that occur against the background of a violation of the normal functioning of the autonomic nervous system due to failures in neuroendocrine regulation. It is the most popular diagnosis among therapists. Symptoms of VVD arise or intensify against the background of exposure to various stresses. It is characterized by a benign course and a good prognosis. The disease has an undulating course with periods of exacerbation and remission.

The most common symptoms of VSD:

- Cardialgia (pain in the region of the heart) of various types, most often the pain is aching, monotonous, indistinctly localized, accompanied by a feeling of lack of air and frequent deep sighs

- Tachycardia (palpitations), periodically there are interruptions in the work of the heart, which are very frightening for patients

- Shortness of breath and feeling short of breath

- Tearfulness, irritability, mood swings, general weakness, decreased ability to work (asthenic syndrome)

-Headache

-Weather sensitivity

- fluctuations in blood pressure

-Poor tolerance to heat and cold

-Insomnia

-Dizziness and fainting

-Gastrointestinal disorders - nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, etc.

-Persistent fever that is not relieved by antipyretics (drugs that reduce fever).

Risk factors for vegetovascular dystonia:

- Chronic and acute stressful situations

- Exhaustion, fatigue

- Foci of chronic infection in the body (chronic tonsillitis, carious teeth, etc.)

- Traumatic injuries and diseases of the nervous and endocrine systems

- Chronic intoxication

- Impact of negative environmental factors and working conditions (insolation, vibration, noise, emotional stress, etc.)

- Bad habits (smoking, alcohol)

- Non-compliance with sleep, rest and work

- Various eating disorders

- Abuse of caffeine.

Complications

Although the VSD is characterized by a benign course and a favorable prognosis, in some cases the disease is complicated - various vegetative crises develop (sympathetic-adrenal, vagoinsular, mixed, hyperventilatory, hyperthermic, vegetative-vestibular). This course of the disease significantly reduces the quality of life of the patient, but does not pose a danger to life.

Risk group

At risk are:

- Persons with a hereditary predisposition to the development of VVD

- People who live in unfavorable material, sanitary and social conditions

- Persons who get tired at work (physically and intellectually)

- People with diseases of the nervous and endocrine systems.
